Everyone has a story of where their journey began. Why they chose the path they did. Let me tell you about mine.

I’ve always been a petite girl. Short and slender without a care or worry about what I ate or how much I worked out. In fact, I used to not have to work out at all. I could eat whatever and not put in an ounce of effort to stay thin. That is until I graduated from college and started my “big girl job.”

This job was your, run of the mill, desk job working 8 hours a day primarily sitting on my derrière behind a computer screen. I didn’t adjust what or how much I ate and I didn’t put any effort into ensuring I got in some activity by the end of the day. Welp, my 25-year-old body could no longer keep up as in years past and the pounds starting packing on ever so subtly.

I decided I needed to become more active as my clothes were getting tight and the number on the scale kept going up. So I bought an exercise bike, set a goal to ride my bike at least 3 times a day for 30 min, and begin eating healthier.

All was going well until I became pregnant and was unable to continue with my cycling. Fast forward to post-natal me and my body ended up doing some crazy things. Due to breastfeeding and returning to work as a teacher, I ended up losing all of my baby weight plus 10 pounds. Now to most, this would seem like something to celebrate, however, for me I was walking a thin line of being too thin. Due to burning more calories and having zero time to eat anything substantial, I was becoming frail. I needed a change.

Right before COVID-19 hit. I was at my smallest here, coming in under 100 pounds. I had very little muscle or fat on my body.

Then, in March, COVID-19 hit and teachers were the first to be sentenced to life at home. I can’t explain my excitement only because it meant I got to spend some much needed time with my baby. It was during this time that I was also able to dive into a program a friend of mine had been involved in for a year. I had seen the results for her and was really ready to try something new to challenge myself. I knew I didn’t need to lose weight so riding my bike seemed unnecessary. I wanted a program I could do at home that allowed me to build strength and endurance.

With much consideration, I bit the bullet. I contacted my friend (who became my coach) and invested in BeachBody on Demand (BOD). I can’t express how much I actually enjoy the programs in BOD. With hundreds of programs to choose from, there’s most definitely something there for everyone.

Side note: I did have a slight Diastasis Recti as seen in these photos (the pouch you see in the side view is from DR). BeachBody has a specific workout program for post-natal women and there’s even one specifically designed to help strengthen your abs and get rid of DR. I completed these workouts before attempting traditional ab workouts.

With your subscription to BOD you not only do you get access to all of the programs, but you also get access to information about nutrition. Something I was desperately needing. Completing the workouts is only half of the battle, you have to fuel your body with the proper nutrients as well.

I’m currently 3 months into my BeachBody journey and I am absolutely loving it. I can tell that I am stronger, have higher endurance, and more energy. Now, I truly look forward to my workout every day, something I never thought I would say.

My whole world and the reason I fight to be the healthiest me I can be.

I encourage you if you have made it this far in my story, to take the leap and begin your own journey. If you aren’t sure where to begin, that’s okay. I wasn’t either. My advance is to start slow and work your way up. If you go all in at once, you will undoubtedly, burn out, and not continue. Check out the BOD app, give the sample workouts a try, and most importantly don’t give up when it gets hard. It’s okay to fail, but fail fast and try again. Never give up on yourself because, in the end, you will achieve that goal if you stick to it.

Me currently. Fit and healthy!
