I began meal prepping on Sundays after struggling with the evening chaos that comes after a full day’s work. Our evening routine is a mad dash from one activity to another. I get the girls at 5 and 3 nights a week we have dance which means we don’t get home until after 6 pm. And lord help us if we have to stop by a store for an essential item we ran out of. With a bedtime of 7:30-8 p.m. that doesn’t leave much time to make any decent meal for the family. Thus, enter meal prepping.
Honestly, I can say it may seem a bit overwhelming at first but after a few weeks, it’s actually becoming one of my favorite days. I make my menu in the morning, then grocery shop for all the items, and then (with the assistance of my wonderful husband) make every meal as fully as possible. It becomes a day of family time just enjoying each other’s company, no phones (mostly), music playing, my 4-year-old dancing, and lots of conversation with my partner in life.
I encourage you to implement this into your routine. It’s great for family connection but also so incredibly helpful to come home after a long day, pull something out of the fridge, pop it into the microwave, and boom dinner is ready.
